Slow Down Entering Vehicles
Hi-Vis Group worked with TfNSW [formerly RMS] to install a range of Vehicle Activated Signs to address over speeding vehicles entering the townships at Parkes and Geurie.
Entering traffic included large semi trailers, trucks & trailers, light vehicles and smaller cars and utes. The entrance to the towns is quite flat and follows straight off major country roads highlighting a problem with slowing speeds.
The solution presented by Hi-Vis to assist in slowing vehicles entering the townships was to install oversized speed signs with a radar that captures all vehicles passing through the township.
As part of the future traffic management the radar also measures speed. The radar is programmed to recognise overspeed, in this case over 50KM/H, and triggers dual LED flashing lights with an LED ‘SLOW DOWN’ message illuminated warning oncoming vehicles at several town entry points.
The overall scope of works completed included the following:
- Sign Design
- Project Management
- Provision of Traffic Management
- Software Programming
- Manufacture, Installation & Commissioning
- Provision of QA Documentation
